From Field to Stream: Measuring Runoff in the Root River Watershed

Kevin Kuehner, Minnesota Department of Agriculture

Thursday, May 14, 6:30 p.m.

Cascade Meadow Wetland and Environmental Science Center

2900--19th St. NW, Rochester, MN 55901

With nonpoint source pollution from farmland continuing to provide the majority of sediment and chemical pollution in Minnesota rivers and streams, the Minnesota Department of Agriculture is using an innovative, edge-of-field approach to produce a better understanding of runoff losses from farm fields and sub-watersheds in the Root River watershed. Hear Kevin Kuehner describe local farmer leadership, what they’ve been finding in the Field to Stream study and how this research could lead to “Cleaner Water and Fewer Floods” in the Zumbro Watershed.

This talk is part of the Zumbro Watershed Partnership’s “Water Ways” Speaker Series that takes place the second Thursday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Cascade Meadow Wetland and Environmental Science Center in Rochester.
